1. Could you tell us your name and your job title?

Laura Fenwick, Research and Impact Evaluation Officer

2. Could you tell us about your background (i.e., past education / jobs)?

I moved to York to do an undergraduate degree in Sport Science at York St John University. I then stayed to complete a MSc by Research in the subject area of perfectionism. Sticking with perfectionism and York St John University, I am currently studying for a PhD. Before joining Inspiring Choices, I balanced a few jobs alongside studying. I have worked in retail as a sales assistant, and I have worked at the university doing some research assistant work and teaching undergraduate students.

3. What is your favourite part of your job?

I really like the problem-solving aspects of my job role, but my favourite part of my job is finalising the annual reports and sharing our successes and with our stakeholders.

4. What one piece of advice would you give to someone looking at their future education

Take time to consider your options and choose a subject that you’re interested in.

5. What is your favourite film or book

Pan’s Labyrinth.

6. If you were an animal, what type of animal do you think you’d be

I’d be a dog because I like to go out for walks but also snuggle up on the sofa at the end of the day. Or a maybe some sort of lizard that basks in the sun.
